The dodgeball game is a trendy team sport in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia. You can often see people playing dodgeball in parks, on grass, and campus. The typical court is then divided into two equal sections by a centerline and attack lines parallel to the centerline.
Most of the dodgeball games used are round rubber or foam balls. There are 12 people on the field in a game, and each team has six players. The dodgeball used in the game is placed on the center line of the arena. Players from both sides first run to the center line to grab the ball. After grabbing the ball, they cannot hit it immediately and must pass it to the teammates behind.
The game's rules vary slightly in different regions, the most common being the traditional British regulations and the modern American dodgeball rules. The size of the dodgeball field required in these two different dodgeball systems is also different.
Dodgeball Court Size Guide
In most parts of the world, dodgeball is more inclined to be a fun sport, and the rules are not particularly uniform. But in recent years, a standard sporting event and two official dodgeball organizations have been developed: the National Dodgeball League (NDL), the World Dodgeball Federation (WDBF), and the World Dodgeball Association (WDA). The game can be played indoors or outdoors. The playing field shall be a rectangular surface without obstructions and at least 60 ft long and 30 ft wide. The court size may vary by local rulers. Here we introduce the size of two typical dodgeball courts: the WDBF Dodgeball Court and Elite Dodgeball Court.
A WDBF Dodgeball Court is the internationally defined official area for a game of dodgeball. The Elite Dodgeball was developed in North America from traditional British regulations. It requires a slightly smaller court than a WDBF Dodgeball court. Dodgeball is commonly played on an indoor or outdoor basketball or tennis court; some dodgeball courts are even located on sandy beaches. There are two attack zones and a neutral zone; end lines and side lines define dodgeball courts. The neutral zone is split by the court centerline, just beyond the attack line.
Dimensions of the Dodgeball Court
- WDBF Dodgeball Courts have an overall length of 60 feet (18.29 meters) width of 30 feet (9.14 meters). The neutral zone in WDBF Dodgeball is 4 feet (1.22 meters) wide, with attack lines set 10 feet (3.05 meters) from the center.
- Elite Dodgeball Courts have an overall length of 50 feet (15.24 meters) and a width of 25 feet (7.62 meters). The neutral zone in Elite Dodgeball court is 10 feet (3.05 meters) wide.
- Clearances of 6 feet (1.83 meters) on the sides, and 3 feet (0.9 meters) on the ends should be provided to accommodate the referee and queuing areas.

Other Rulers
A Dodgeball team will be made up of 8-16 players. Eight players, including five males and three females, will compete on a side; others will be available as substitute members. Substitutes may enter between games in the place of a teammate (male for male, female for female) or during a game in the place of an injured teammate. If necessary, a team may begin a game with fewer than eight players, with a minimum of six players (four males and two females).
