Volleyball Court Size Guide
Volleyball court dimensions vary depending on league standards, age of participants, and whether the match is held indoors or outdoors. The full volleyball court area is 59 feet x 29' 6". With the metric system, the half-court area is 9 meters by 9 meters, while the entire court is 18 meters long by 9 meters wide. Other Volleyball Court Measurements
Once you know the dimensions of the volleyball court, you should learn of some of the other interesting characteristics concerning the volleyball court size, which is defined by the court lines and are usually painted in contrasting colors on the competition floor. Boundary lines establish the perimeter of the court. The end lines distinguish the length of the court, and the sidelines mark the width.
Attack Line
Volleyball courts feature an attack line on each side of the net that runs parallel to the net. It is placed 9'10" (3 m) from the centerline. These lines separate the frontcourt from the backcourt. The purpose of the attack line is to indicate where back row players can attack the ball.
Service Zone
The service zone is a 9m wide area behind each end line, extending to the end of free zones.
Net Height
The official size of a volleyball net is 32 feet long by 39 inches tall. Men's indoor volleyball net height is 7' 11-5/8" (2.43 meters) tall. The co-ed net size and height are the same. Women’s volleyball net height is 7' 4" (2.24 meters) tall.
Free Zone
Free zones at a minimum of 9'10" (3 m) are required around the entirety of the court, with generous clearances up to 16’5” (5 m) on the sides and 21’4” (6.5 m) in the back.
