US States By Size report
The United States is a federal republic consisting of 50 states, Washington District Of Columbia ( the capital), five unincorporated territories, and more than a dozen other islands. Its main part is located in central North America.
The United States was originally a colony of Indians. At the end of the 15th century, Spain, Netherland, France, and the United Kingdom established colonies in America. Before the 18th century, Britain owned 13 colonies in North America. On July 4, 1776, the United States became independent after the Declaration of Independence. There were only 13 US states in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Between 1803 and 1959, the initial 13 states continued to expand, through war and redemption, to 50 states.
Nowadays, the United States has become the third-largest country in terms of territorial area and the fourth-largest country in terms of land area. Its territories include the continental United States, Alaska in the northwestern part of North America, and the Hawaiian Islands in the central Pacific Ocean. We briefly reviewed the history of the US states. Let us check the size of each state.
