The Normandy Bridge is an old bridge that opened in January 1995, connecting the two towns of Honfleur and Le Havre. It is a steel cable load-bearing bridge, but the steel cables supporting the bridge are directly connected from the tower to the bridge body, and it looks like a huge spider web from a distance. It is a classic example of twentieth-century bridge architectural design.
The whole bridge cost 3.2 billion francs. The shape of the main girder is a flat trapezoidal box girder constructed by the cantilever method. The lower part is an A-shaped concrete structure with a height of 140 meters, and the upper part is a rectangular cross-section steel tower, and all the inclined cables are anchored in the steel anchor box at the top of the tower. The inclined cables are 184 parallel steel cables with a maximum diameter of 16.8 cm. In order to avoid the vibration of the inclined cable in the cable plane, four pairs of straight connecting cables are arranged in each cable plane, and a damper is installed at the lower end of the cable.
