Snow Pants Size report
For ski lovers, the choice of snow pants is critical, especially for snowboarders; getting up/sitting down and bending over to tie binding are all things they always need to do when skiing. If the snow pants are too tight, it will ruin your day. If the snow pants are too loose, this will directly affect your safety.
The importance of snow pants is often overlooked. Snow pants are more critical than snow jackets. Some experienced skiers may choose to wear an ordinary Jacket as a substitute for a snowsuit, but the bottom is a pair of professional snow pants.
As far as apparel goes, your pants are the essential part of your outfit that needs to be comfortable. When choosing a new pair of snow pants, it’s worth taking some time researching the various fabrics, features, and styles that will be most applicable to your type of skiing or riding. A pair of high-quality ski or snowboard pants are working hard to keep your lower body dry and comfortable.
Snow Pants Size Guide
Whether you call them ski trousers, snow pants, or salopettes, a good pair of ski pants are just as essential as ski jackets. Before choosing a pair of snow pants, we explained a general guide of the snow pants sizing that you need to know.
Waist Sizing
While most ski pants run true to size, you might want to size up if you tend to be wider around the waist or size down if you're narrower around your waist. You should note that waterproof snow pants aren't exactly known for their stretch. If you're in between sizes, we recommend sizing up and adding a belt to secure them.
Length Sizing
Most snow pants come in three lengths: short, regular, and long. That refers to the inseam length (like denim sizing) and ranges an inch or two depending on the size.
Short | Regular | Long | |
---|---|---|---|
Men's | 29-30" | 31-33" | 34-35" |
Women's | 28-30" | 30-32" | 32-34" |

Snowboard / Ski Pants Dimensions
The waist size, as physically measured on a pair of snowboard or ski pants, will rarely be the same as that quoted by the manufacturer because the manufacturer quotes the waist measurement of the person the pants are designed to fit, and the waistband rarely aligns with a person's natural waistline.
When you measure the inseam on a pair of snowboard or ski pants, it should be similar to your inside leg measurement.

How to choose snowboard pants
Fitting snowboard pants can be tricky because there is a broad range of how different brands size their pants. A good rule of thumb is to go up one size from your regular street pants. It will allow for more room to layer on cold days. The extra space is also essential for mobility while snowboarding. A snowboarder's body will bend and flex a lot, and constricting pants can become quite uncomfortable. Moving up a size is a great idea.
1. Waterproof
If snowboarding, the waterproof factor must be high because snowboarding must sit in the snow, wear the board, and kneel or sit on the snow to rest. It is entirely different from skiing, so the waterproof performance of the ski pants must be good. Otherwise, you will find that the inside of your pants is soaked with snow water. That feeling guarantees that you don't want to experience it a second time!
2. Color
The color of ski pants is recommended to be solid and dark. Don't choose bright colors, because too bright colors don't match clothes and can't help but get dirty (snow pants are easy to get dirty).
3. Size
You must choose a size one size larger, but this does not mean that you usually wear L snow pants to choose XL because there are many brands of snowsuits, and the sizes and designs are different. Some snowsuit manufacturers will follow the average size. Sizes are provided. Some standard sizes are marked, but the design is enlarged by adding fertilizer. Therefore, you must go to the physical store to try the snowboard pants. Don't be too troublesome. You must first borrow the hip pads and knee pads in the ski shop. Okay, try the pants size again.
Several factors need to be considered for a pair of high-quality snow pants:
- The inner trousers should have anti-cutting coating patches or special protective gaskets to prevent the cutting edge of the board.
- The inner lining has good elasticity, antibacterial, and deodorant.
- Snow pants should have excellent waterproof performance. Consider fabrics that will not have water stains.
- Novices should wear thick hip pads and thick knee pads. Snow pants can't choose too thin pants or have a low waist and closed legs.
- For powder snow skiers, consider high-waisted snow skirts or high-waisted pants.
How to wash snow pants
- It can be soaked in 30 degrees warm water with a neutral detergent, lightly brush the dirty area with a soft brush, put it in a drum washing machine, rinse with warm water three or four times after washing at low speed, drain the water gently, and dry in a ventilated place.
- In order to avoid pilling on the surface, it is better to clean the reverse side and close all the fasteners to prevent the thorny surface of the fasteners from scratching the fabric.
- The accessories of the snow pants are also wiped with a neutral detergent. The stains that are not easy to wash off can be rubbed with warm water at 50-60 degrees.
Finally, in the washing and storage, you should also pay attention: try to be clean and dry to prevent insects and mildew, the closet should be clean, dry, and sealed, and the clothes should not be squeezed and stored for a long time.
