Poster Size report
Sometimes posters are just a fashionable page, but they try to attract your attention while also providing information that interests you. You can see them everywhere, posted on street walls or hidden in email attachments.
Although there are many poster types and their themes and designs are different, they all aim for persuasive and eye-catching designs. Brands of varying sizes typically use posters for promotional purposes. The most common posters are movie posters, ad posters, and informative posters in our daily life.
The world today is highly competitive. All other companies must redouble their efforts to promote themselves and create a brand image lasting on the public. Posters have become one of the most effective and straightforward marketing methods. The first step in making a poster is to determine the poster size you need.
Poster Size Guide
There is no true standard poster size. Although many paper manufacturers comply with international regulations to maintain printing standardization worldwide, poster sizes are not regulated. The lack of standardization sometimes leads to confusion when looking for the right size design and printed posters. Different poster types have different size requirements, and the choice of poster size is also closely related to the specific strategy and design. Let's start by understanding the types of posters.
Common Poster Types
- Advertising poster
Commercial advertising posters are the most common type of posters. It is the primary advertising poster you might notice on the street. These posters usually talk about products or services that have recently been launched or need to attract passersby's attention.
- Movie poster
These posters are used to promote upcoming TV shows, plays, or concerts. These posters usually showed the show's images, the name, time, location, and a brief introduction. You can also use them as pre-release posters to make the public excited about upcoming shows.
- Corporate poster
Large companies use corporate posters to promote their brands. The purpose of these posters is not to promote a single product or service. Usually, these posters show the complete product series provided by the merchant and adhere to a single design to maintain the unity of the poster.
- Event poster
Event posters are a set of posters used to spread awareness of the whole event. This type of poster is especially suitable for publicity months such as "Cancer Awareness Month."
- Digital poster
Many small businesses start with digital marketing. It also entered the traditional marketing field in the form of digital posters. Digital posters are mobile posters that can be projected on the space or displayed with the help of LED screens. The advantage is that you can reuse them.

How To Choose Poster Size
You have many options for poster sizes. Choosing the right paper to print and design your posters is essential. The poster size you choose depends on what you are showcasing, how many posters you need, your budget, and what your desired impact is going to be.
- Cost: Many different materials are available for poster printing; their prices and quality can vary greatly. If your budget allows it, preferably choose heavier papers.
- For small posters, they are usually used for marketing purposes, and they are most commonly printed in bulk. For example, 8.5 x 11 posters are called flyers or handbills.
- When you need a large poster, you can use the 24" x 36" size. After that, 27" x 39" and 27" x 40" were almost always used for posters or movie posters. Last but not least, 40" x 60" is a bus shelter advertising.
- Sometimes, the poster size depends entirely on personal preference.
