Pokemon Trading Card Game is based on the Pokémon series; the game was first launched in Japan in October 1996 and the English version in North America in December 1998. Wizards of the Coast published the English version.

At present, the number of Pokemon cards sold in 77 regions and 13 languages has reached more than 28 billion. The game concept is based on the GB version of Pokemon battle. All Pokemon have their Attack and Hit Point. When a Pokemon's damage is greater than or equal to its remaining HP, it will fail and be sent to the Discard Pile.

There are three different Pokemon cards in the game: Pokemon cards, energy cards, and training Cards. A Full Deck is a set of 60 cards, and a full deck is usually used in games. Half Deck is a set of 30 cards; the rules are same except that the award brand is reduced from 6 cards to 3 cards. As with any TCG, knowing their size when prepping them for play is essential.

They have been designed for those that want to display some cool Pokemon card artwork, there is no gameplay use for oversized pokemon cards. Oversized cards have been around since the beginning of Pokemon, with the first oversized card being a 6 x 8 inch version of the base set Pikachu. The Pokemon Company took direct control over the Pokemon TCG, they decided to increase the size of jumbo cards to somewhere around 8 x 9 inches.
