Lionhead rabbits are medium-long-haired, especially around the neck to the chest, and the hair is very long (V-shaped), like the mane erected around the neck of a lion. Some have a single mane, and others have a double mane. In double-maned Lionheads, the fur is prominent around most of the body, especially the head and hindquarters, while single-maned Lionheads have a mane around the head and ears that diminishes as they age. Lionheads are bred in various colors, including black, blue, lilac, and chestnut. They grow a thicker coat in the winter and shed during the spring.
