Keg Sizes report
There is a wide and interesting beer world out there, and we are all living in it. If you have decided to install a kegerator in your space, you may be considering various options. To make the most of your decision, you should know about the different keg sizes of draft beer offered on the market today.
Keg beer is one of the most common beer packagings. Before the emergence of metal containers, wooden kegs have always been the standard containers for beer. Wooden barrels are the most important raw material for alcohol, such as whiskey, bourbon, wine, brandy, dark rum, sherry, port, etc. There are often rich flavors in wooden barrels. Many kinds of wooden barrels are used to make wine, but the most widely used is oak.
Beer kegs are reusable and have a service life of more than 20 years. Machines can effectively operate them. In the end, the barrels can be recycled, so they are considered green kegs. In Europe, most beer barrels have a volume of 50 liters and 30 liters. If you are interested in learning more about the standard size of beer barrels, please continue reading the following article.

Beer Keg Types
- Cornelius Keg
The Cornelius keg was originally designed for soft drinks, and it allowed the soft drinks to have the ideal proportions of flavoring and carbonation. This keg is now the most popular homemade beer keg with a typical size - 5 gallons. The top of a Corny Keg opens up completely, making it very easy for a homebrewer to clean the keg's interior without special equipment quickly.
- 1/6 Barrel Keg
The Sixth Barrel Keg holds slightly more than the Cornelius Keg. 1/6 Barrels have become increasingly popular. It is ideal for restaurants, bars, and homes with limited space.
- Quarter Barrel Keg
The Quarter Barrel Keg looks like the standard beer keg. It is 7.75 gallons and perfect for small parties or limited space.
- Slim Quarter Keg
This tall, slender keg holds the same amount as the Quarter Barrel Keg. This keg is ideal for dual and triple tap kegerators allowing you to serve a variety of beverages with one kegerator.
- Half Barrel Keg
The 15.5 gallon Half Barrel Keg is probably the most traditional when you think of a beer keg. 1/2 barrel keg is known as your standard and traditional full-sized keg. This keg is ideal for large parties or gatherings, commercial use, and large homebrew batches and is frequently used at restaurants and bars.
- 50 Litre Keg
The 50 Litre Keg is equivalent to the American Half Barrel Keg, and this keg size is most commonly found at European breweries. Popular import brands include Heineken, Newcastle, Hoegaarden, and Stella Artois. These imported European kegs do not use a standard US Sankey D coupler.
