Dartboard Size Guide
In general, the dartboard setup should be an area where you can throw darts in a safe and comfortable environment. If you want to be fully legit, you can set up your dartboard and den to meet official Worlds Darts Federation (WDF) regulations. The standard international dart competition rules give more detailed requirements for dartboards' standard distance and height. The two measurements to remember are the dartboard's height and the distance between the dartboard and the toe line. You will be meeting official regulations by following these guidelines.
The standard international dartboard is known as the "clock" board. The standard dartboard has 20 numbered, pie-shaped segments of equal size, plus the bull's eye. Each numbered segment has a double ring on the outside perimeter of the scoring area and an interior triple ring. The bull's eye has an outer bull area (also known as the single bull, which scores 25) and an inner bull (also known as a double bull's eye, which scores 50).
Standard Dartboard Dimensions
The dartboard should be fixed on a wall or mobile stand, and it allows a minimum of a 3m separation between boards measured from Bull to Bull. The standard dimensions of the dartboard are as follows:
- The standard dartboard measurement is 45.1cm (18") in diameter.
- The official height to hang your dartboard is 173cm (5'8") from the floor to the bullseye (the exact center of the dartboard).
- The official distance is 237cm (7'9.25") from the dartboard to the back of the throw line.
- Double and treble ring inside measurement: 8mm.
- Bull inside diameter: 12.7mm.
- Outer bull inside diameter: 31.8mm.
- Centre bull to the inside edge of treble wire: 107mm.
- Centre bull to the outside edge double wire: 170mm.
- Outside edge of the double wire to outside edge of double wire: 340mm.

Since darts often bounce out of the dartboard, never put a dartboard up near windows or breakables or where anyone could walk between the throwline and the dartboard. Also, if you have a hard floor, such as concrete or wood, you may want to consider getting a dart mat. The scoreboard should be hung to the left or the right of the dartboard for easy access.
