Columbus Lighthouse Height report
The Columbus Lighthouse is a landmark building located in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. In 1992, to commemorate the 500th year since Columbus discovered the New World of America, Santo Domingo established the Columbus Lighthouse; it is said that Columbus's remains are stored here.
Looking down from the porthole of the plane, Dominica looks like a pearl inlaid in the Caribbean Sea. It borders Haiti to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the south, and Puerto Rico to the east. It has white sandy beaches, clear waters, and a comfortable climate. About 25% of the national territory is national parks and ecological reserves.
Columbus discovered the New World of America and landed in Dominica. The country name of Dominica means "Sunday" in Spanish. Legend has it that the day Columbus landed on the island happened to be Sunday, hence the name. Remnants of Columbus can be seen all over the country; there are Columbus Museum, Columbus Park, Columbus Square, Columbus Lighthouse, etc. Here we will introduce the Columbus Lighthouse, which has stood by the coastline for more than 30 years.
Columbus Lighthouse Height And Structure
It is said that the Columbus Lighthouse took 44 years to build and cost 70 million US dollars, which is a huge project for the small country of Dominica. The building was completed in 1992 on the 500th anniversary of Columbus's discovery of the New World of America. The Columbus Lighthouse is huge and spectacular, and people can see the entire shape of the lighthouse from a distance on the highway. Because of its unique design, the Columbus Lighthouse won an architectural design competition award in 1929.
From the front, the lighthouse looks like a trapezoidal building with a height of 10 floors; from the side, it looks like a big ship; and when overlooking the whole building, it is in the shape of a cross. Various exhibition rooms inside the lighthouse display items donated by different countries when the lighthouse was built. There are 157 laser beams on the top of the lighthouse pointing directly at the night sky, forming a huge cross; the gorgeous "lighthouse" night scene has already been printed on best-selling postcards.

Conclusion
The Columbus Lighthouse in Santo Domingo is one of the most popular landmarks and is also a must-see attraction in the city. Designed by architect Joe Gleave, the building was built in honor of the great explorer Christopher Columbus. The Columbus Lighthouse is different from ordinary lighthouses. It is a nearly square trapezoidal building, which looks more like a monument; people can enter the lighthouse to visit; areas within the monument are used as exhibition rooms, archives, a library, and a museum. Strong lights illuminate the Christian mansion at night and project their shadows onto the sky.
