Broad Peak Height report

The Broad Peak, with geographic coordinates of 76.34° east longitude and 35.48° north latitude, is the twelfth-highest peak in the world and the third-highest peak in Karakoram. It is located about 12 kilometers southeast of K2 in the Karakoram Mountains, part of the Gasherbrum range in Baltistan, and is the boundary peak between China and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.

An American mountaineering team took the name in 1892 to describe its expansive summit that stretches for nearly a mile. Broad Peak is also called K3 Peak, which means "the third mountain to be investigated in the Karakoram Mountains."

The Broad Peak is considered the easiest of all 8,000-meter peaks to climb, with a mortality rate of less than 10%. Broad Peak Height And Description

Broad Peak's local name means "three-pointed mountain" because three peaks stand on its three main ridges: the North, the South, and the Southwest Ridge. The North and South Ridges are the main ridge line of the Karakoram Mountains and the national boundary. The Central Peak (8,016 meters) and the North Peak (7,538 meters) are on these two ridges. Broad Peak is majestic; its body is covered with ice and snow all year round.

As early as 1902 to 1954, mountaineering teams from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, and other countries carried out mountaineering activities in the Broad Peak area, but it was not until 1957 that the Austrian mountaineering team reached the summit on June 9. Due to the steep east slope of the mountain, it has been today since anyone has successfully climbed to the top from the east slope.

Climate

From May to September, the southwest monsoon brings warm and humid air, and the rainy season begins in this region. From May to September, due to rising temperatures and snowmelt and falling, the water level in the valley often rises sharply, making it difficult to enter the mountain. Therefore, the best time for entering the mountain is from May to early June.

From July to September, the temperature on the top of the mountain is slightly higher, and the good weather lasts longer, which is a good time to climb to the top. After mid-September, strong westerly winds bring harsh winters. The lowest temperature at the top of the peak can reach -50 degrees, and the maximum wind speed can reach more than five m/s, which is a restricted climate for mountaineering.

Final Words

Fewer than 300 people have ever summited the Broad Peak. It is also the only mountain among all 8,000-meter peaks whose climbing risk has been on the rise in recent years. The new climbing route pioneered by the Kazakhs is located on the southwest face of Broad Peak. The route starts on the glacier at 4,800 meters above sea level; the next thing to face is a steep ice-rock mixed line extending from 5,500 meters above sea level to 7,800 meters above sea level-a rock wall with a vertical height difference of nearly 2,300 meters. After completing the above, climbers only need to pass through a section of edge ridge to climb the main peak of Broad at an altitude of 8,051 meters. The best season for climbing Broad Peak is from June to September, but due to its relatively easy route, attempts have been made to climb it in winter.
