Bodyboard Size Chart report

bodyboardingBodyboarding is a water-skating sport performed with a short, flexible surfboard. In 1971, Tom Morey invented the Boogie Board, also called "bodyboard." He initially used foam boards lighter than other surfboards and wrapped them in plastic wrap.

The bodyboarding equipment includes a surfing suit, a pair of short fins, and a bodyboard. Bodyboarders often use fins for extra propulsion and control when encountering breaking waves. You are about to buy your first bodyboard, and there are multiple varieties of bodyboard sizes and shapes.

Many people are confused about which bodyboard size is right for me. Bodyboarding is performed using a soft, square-nosed, flexible board ranging between 33'' and 46''. This post offers a handy sizing guide for people looking for a new bodyboard.

Bodyboard Size Guide

The bodyboard, also known as a boogie board or belly board, was invented by Tom Morey in July 1971 in Southern California. Morey Boogie became an iconic brand and a synonym for bodyboard. There are also other great bodyboard manufacturers worldwide. The differences in the shape of bodyboards don't have a key impact on your choice of the correct bodyboard size.

Bodyboard sizing is determined by height and weight. A guide for the proper bodyboard size is from your chin to your knee, or about an inch below your belly when it is standing on the ground. You can not do this when shopping online, so we have a detailed size chart to help you choose the right bodyboard size. If you are unsure, we recommend going a size up. Check your bodyboard size with the following size chart.

Conclusion

bodyboard for youth

Once you find the perfect range of bodyboards for your height and weight, you can look into the boards' features. Width is also a relevant feature in the performance of bodyboards. Wider boards have higher buoyancy and are more difficult to turn. Thickness is also a critical variable in bodyboards. It would be best to consider your surfing style and preferences when choosing a bodyboard size. Ideally, a normal-sized bodyboard is for average-sized waves, a larger bodyboard for big, powerful steep, hollow, fast waves, and a smaller boogie board for the big days.
