History of The Allianz Arena

The Allianz Arena was not built overnight. As early as 1997, the club expressed the desire to build a new stadium, but it wasn't until 2001 that things broke through. Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich jointly funded the construction of this stadium. Plans to build a stadium in Munich's Fröttmanning district have finally cleared the last hurdle after a majority voted in favor.

On October 21, 2002, the construction of the Allianz Arena was officially started. The speed of construction has also set a record. In less than three years, this one of the most modern stadiums in Europe has been completed. The operator of the stadium has always been Allianz Arena Munich GmbH. Initially, Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich held a 50% stake in the company and shared rights. However, for financial reasons, Munich 1860 sold its stake to Bayern in 2006. So far, Bayern Munich has become the only owner of this legendary football stadium.
