This site covers an area of more than 580,000 square meters. During the World Cup, there are two floors of stands; Al Janoub Stadium has a capacity of up to 40,000 spectators for a single game. Architectural Features
The stadium's opaque retractable roof and façade are pleated. This feature is derived from Arabic motifs and calligraphy, which both add texture to the shell and accentuate the unique geometry of the stadium. The roof and wall cladding are white with a seashell-like sheen.
The embossed eaves and lattice screen printing of the ground floor façade are in metallic bronze, adding richness and depth to the design. And the surfaces adorned with these bronze metal finishes pay homage to Islamic traditional craftsmanship and artistry.
